ABOUT TAKE 5
Teacher certifications available for educators, wellness professionals, parents, community leaders, and anyone interested in guiding youth to a calmer, more self-responsible self.
TAKE 5 is a program developed by Sheila Palmquist and researched by University of NE Lincoln. Take 5 is designed to help students, teachers, and parents learn to self-regulate emotions and behavior and navigate the demands of our ever-changing environment. This comprehensive program enables us all to better understand and take control of violence and aggression.
The mission of TAKE 5 is to manage stress, self-abuse, bullying, and violent behavior of all kinds. This comprehensive program enables us all to better understand and take control of violence and aggression. The use of breathing practices, concentration techniques, drawing/journaling, and exercise/movement are the tools we use to bring greater awareness to body, mind, and internal conflict.
Guide youth to:
• Learn techniques to self-regulate behavior and emotions
• Develop peace and stillness in the midst of chaos
• Quiet the mind to become more receptive to learning
• Build self-awareness and self-responsibility
• Improve confidence and self-esteem
• Reduce anxiety, depression and anger

"Just tonight I did it in the living room with my daughters age 6, 7 and 10 and it was such a hit! I think we all appreciated the wonderful mix of affirmations and movements.
It was obvious to see the joy you took in leading the kids and it helped me have a bit more patience and humour with my own (after a long day) - thank you for taking the time to create and post it, I'm sure we will be following along with it again soon." -Laura
